A great question! As adults when we gain weight, we "enlarge" our fat cells; we don't typically grow new fat cells. So if you have a certain number of fat cells removed fro a certain body part, you don't replace those with new fat cells. Surgeon never take away all the fat cells from a body area when doing liposuction, they just reduce there number. So weight gain which is very possible after liposuction can be seen in both the ares you have had treated and even more so in the areas you have not had treated. The best thing to do is to maintain some semblance of exercise and eating habits to maintain your results. I'm am often told by my patients during there consultations, that they have friends who had liposuction of there flanks and after words the fat went to there arms (As an example). My response to them is that they had liposuction of there flanks and they went to Baskin Robbins and that went to there arms. In summary you will gain weight and fat volume faster in the ares where you have not had liposuction, typically, that in the areas where you have already had liposuction, but you will still gain fat volume and weight in the areas that were treated with liposuction (VASER or regular Liposuction), because you are enlarging the remaining fat cells that were left there.
