I've had buccal fat removed 1 day ago, is this amount of swelling normal? (Photo)

Swelling after buccal fat removal it is generally mild in 90% of the patients. In 10% of the patients the swelling could be severe, specially the day after surgery and could last for up to a week.

Thanks for sharing.  Congratulations on your procedures. I tell my patients the day after surgery you will look more swollen (than normal)  in the cheek area.  Swelling can be assymmetric.  By your photo i would actually say you have less swelling then normal.  By 7 days you will look about the same as your pre-op, and then from 1 week to several months the results will reveal itself and continue to improve nicely.  Be patient and follow your surgeons instructions.  Reach out to him with any concerns.

Thanks for the question. I'm sorry you are having excessive swelling. The image is cut off so I cannot say for sure. Generally speaking, Buccal Fat Pad Removal produces immediate results after the short one hour procedure. It is associated with mild pain, swelling and minimal bruising. The pain and discomfort only last a few days. The swelling peaks at about the third day and then continues to fade over the next 7-10 days.

Combining plastic surgery procedures of the face can lead to a slightly longer period of swelling or recovery. For instance combining buccal fat pad removal with chin implant or neck liposuction can add a few days to the recovery.
