Hair transplantation is the most dependable way to reverse thinning and hair loss in your early 20s. Drug and chemical treatments will have varying effects on different individuals.
The risk with opting for hair surgery at a young age has been the issue of not knowing how far a person’s hair loss will progress. If they reach Norwood 6-7 they won’t have enough grafts on their scalp left to cover their bald region at this point.

Hello, and thank you for your question and your photos. You may also consider some Rogaine shampoo and topical treatments. In addition at that you may be a good candidate for some hair transplants. These need to be done judiciously because you are a younger patient and we need to conserve hair grafts for the most important areas which generally are the anterior hairline. I would recommend that you discuss this with a qualified hair transplant surgeon in your area. 

I'd recommend switching to organic products for your shampoo and conditioner, and to look in to preventative medications like Finasteride and Minoxidil which has been proven to halt and even reverse hair loss. Before starting any medications it is best to check with your physician.

Finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil are by far the best options. Hair transplants are not an option for the crown until you mid 30s. Other options are less effective but can be considered including low level laser and platelet rich plasma. You might wish to speak to your physicians about minoxidil (Rogaine and generics).

Propecia is a good way to start; it will help prevent further hair loss.  Adding minoxidil (Rogaine) and/or laser therapy will also help by stimulating your hair follicles to put out thicker hair shafts.  Use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may also help regrow some of the hair you've lost.  Your best bet is to meet with a hair restoration surgeon to discuss your long-term and short-term goals and come up with a treatment plan, and to review the facts and details about the above modalities.
