I have vertical dents from chronic frowning. I'm wondering if botox can get them out and if it can work as a reset or if the dents will come back?
Answer: Botox Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin in Winnetka and Chicago. This is a great question. Botox can be effective in addressing vertical dents from chronic frowning, also known as frown lines or glabellar lines. These dents are caused by repeated muscle contractions in the area between the eyebrows, which create deep lines over time. Botox works by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for these contractions, thereby reducing the appearance of these lines and allowing the skin to smooth out. However, Botox primarily works on the muscles and does not directly fill in or repair the skin's structural dents. While Botox can significantly improve the appearance of frown lines by reducing muscle activity and allowing the skin to relax, it may not completely eliminate deep dents or wrinkles. The effects of Botox are temporary, typically lasting 3 -4 months, and the frown lines may gradually return as muscle activity resumes. To maintain the improved appearance, you would need to continue with regular Botox treatments. Additionally, incorporating other treatments, such as dermal fillers or skin resurfacing procedures, might be recommended to further address and improve the depth of the dents. I hope this helps and best of luck!

Answer: Botox To understand Botox results it's helpful to understand how Botox works. Botox is a neuromodulator that affects the ability of an injected muscle to contract. For wrinkles that are caused from dynamic muscle movement, Botox will give a softened appearance to that area. I've included a video that I hope you find helpful.

Answer: Can a single Botox procedure get dents out the forehead? (Photo) Hello there Mel, It takes years to form the vertical lines, it may take more than one Botox treatment to rid them. Botox is most effective on glabellar vertical frown lines (between the eyebrows). Your long "dents" may be due to blood vessels. Good luck and be well. Michael Persky, MD Encino, CA. USA
