I have a small umbilical hernia (about 2-3 cm I would guess). I was told by a doctor that I could do either a mesh or a sutural repair, although he recommended a mesh laprascopically. Would both procedures require carbon dioxide to expand the abdominal region? I'm concerned that mesh might be more invasive and I don't love the idea that there could be complications directly related to the mesh (rejection, balling, hardening, autoimmune). Please let me know what you would recommend!
