Do you tell your patients to get a facial before surgery?

Question

I wanted to know if you tell your patients to get a facial before surgery or if you recommend any skin care regimen before their rhinoplasty. My skin is on the oily side, read a lot of people complaining that their skin has been oilier (even though they're not oily to begin with) after their rhinoplasty. I want to avoid as much complications as I can. I have huge pores on my nose. from what I understand I may form a Polly beak deformity.

Thank you for your question, it is not a reequipment for patients to have a facial before surgery. We do no advise.

every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.

I don’t think it matters if you get a facial ahead of time but you should get the okay from your surgeon if you are planning on proceeding.

No, a facial will not help with the healing process after a rhinoplasty procedure. Thick, oily skin with dilated skin pores usually indicates that there is  very active sebaceous glands and thick dermis.  This usually requires steroid shots after the surgery to prevent the poly-beak deformity
