Fat grafting or implant to augment lips?

Hi, I had a lip reduction surgery a year ago, and I regret it every time I look in the mirror. The doctor who did it recommended fillers to get back the original shape as much as possible. But I would like a more permanent result versus repeating fillers every few months.. I am very sad about this. There are very small lumps in one area of the incision line, and I don’t know if fillers or fat graft can work when there are scars in the lips? Someone also mentioned a fascia graft /implant.

Hello, hope you are well. If you are looking for permanent results, you should consider surgical lip augmentation. The commonly used materials to augment the lips are soft silicone implants, fat grafting (lipotransfer), and dermis/fascia. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, and it is hard to determine the 'best' choice for you without analyzing the appearance and texture of your lip(s). Lip lift and V-Y advancement techniques are sometimes also considered depending on your exact anatomy. Nevertheless, I would be optimistic that one of these choices would work for you despite history of reduction. My advice is to have an in-person consult with a facial plastic surgeon who offers all of these choices for a more nuanced analysis and recommendation with discussion of pros/cons of each.

Fat vs lip implant. The more reliable procedure I have experienced is using an Alloderm tissue implant for the lip enhancement.
