Every office has postoperative instructions; those instructions play a significant role in the recovery process. You should call the office or ask for a copy of postoperative directions. In more cases it is common to take a regular shower once the cast is detached.
Thanks for the question. After a Rhinoplasty surgery you can take a shower after 3-5 days before the cast off. I wish you all the best.
You will generally have a hard cast on your nose for one week following surgery, and brown paper tape the second week. After the brown paper tape is removed, it is ok to proceed with your normal routine. I hope this helps, and best of luck!
Showering without any rubbing or scrubbing of the nose should be OK after the splint is removed. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA
You should ask your surgeon what his or her postoperative guidelines are, but usually it is ok to shower normally after the the splint or cast is removed.
I assume you mean after a Rhinoplasty. Follow your surgeon's instructions, but yes in general, I would allow my patients to shower after the splint is removed.
My patients are encouraged to shower 2 days after surgery and several more times before the cast is off. This is the same with any othet surgery as long as they don't have a drain.
Every surgeon has different post operative instructions. Personally I review these instructions during the patients preoperative appointment and they are also reviewed with the patients caregiver at surgical discharge. I allow my patients to shower shortly after surgery unless they have a drain in. I do ask my patients not to elevate the heat to high in the shower and please be careful or shower with assistance if you are taking pain medications. After your splint is removed I would see no reason you would not be able to return to your normal hygiene procedures. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
I prefer to remove the splint myself. It is often well adhered, and may take two weeks to loosen up on its own. Leaving the splint on for too long will block the pores on the nose. Removing it too soon, or too vigorously can lead to distortion of the results. Sometimes it is advantageous to...
I would urge you not to be too worried about swelling at this stage. The cast does not provide significant compression to prevent swelling--it merely serves to provide some protection to the nose externally. As you approach the 3-6 months mark (for thin skin patients) you will have a...
Yes, removing nasal packing will generally make the nose smaller or narrower. Packing type and shape will vary among surgeons and rhinoplasty procedures. If packing is used for your rhinoplasty, then it is typically removed the next day in the office. Best of luck. Dr. Chaboki
Most people have some facial and nasal asymmetry. This is often more visible in photos. That is because people are more used to their mirror image. A photo is reversed, bringing out asymmetries. Nasal bones will not move if you haven't had recent trauma or surgery. Third, you might have...
Unfortunately I think you need more formal nasal fracture reduction and likely septum reduction also. The reduction you have is not midline and may heal that way. Then if you heal off center you may need septoplasty and rhinoplasty. best wishes!!
The apparent nasal width can be reduced as well as the width of the tip, and the dorsum can be augmented with a multitude of techniques and materials. Find the plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of rhinoplasties each year. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los...
