I can still feel the hair after the laser. Is it normal?

Hello, I had my first laser hair removing session three days ago Brazilian bikini. they helped me shaving the area, but obviously they didn't do it well, so directly after the laser I could still feeling the hair like small thorn, and not smooth at all, is that normal? I'm not saying the hair shouldn't grow after, but at least I need to feel smooth at least for couple of days, don't I?

Because laser hair removal only targets the hair follicles that are currently in their active growth phase, not every single hair is treated during any one treatment session. For that reason, it’s completely normal to still see and feel hair in the targeted area even directly after treatment. As you continue with your laser hair removal sessions, you’ll start to see a gradual thinning of the hair in that area and will need to shave less and less frequently.

What your experiencing sounds completely normal. With each session you have you will notice greater reduction. In our facility we treat at 4-6 week intervals for facial hair, 6-8 weeks for the body. We treat at least 8 times for permanent reduction. We suggest that you shave in between treatments to help with the hair that is re-growing.

Thanks for your question.  Your experience sounds completely normal.  At any point in time, only 20 - 30% of your hair follicles are actively growing and susceptible to LHR.  After the actively growing hair follicles are treated with the laser, the follicles are damaged and those hairs begin to fall out.  The treated follicle should not produce another hair.  Every day, some of hair follicles that were in the dormant phase, activate and start producing hair.  It sounds like you are just seeing the next series of follicles that need to be treated.We generally retreat laser hair removal patients every 4-8 weeks depending on the area and how fast the patient's hair is growing back.  Our patients normally require 4-6 treatments of an area to reduce their hair grown to unnoticeable.  We tell them that they may need a touch up every 3-5 years.  Thanks & Good Luck!
