Hi, I'm a Mexican female. My acne is pretty low, but it used to be a little moderate. I once used a hair removal cream for the face, and it made me breakout in my cheeks(it never happened b4). For about 6 months, I went w/my dermatologist, & began washing my face every morning with Benzoyl Peroxide (10%), dabbing on Clindamycin Phospate Topical Solution (1%) 2x a day on red bumps, and Retin-a cream (0.05%) every night. I asked her if it was safe if did do the laser hair removal and she said yes.
Answer
Yes, you can have laser hair removal while taking acne medication. It will take a series of treatments. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a laser hair removal expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Laser Hair Removal is safe to use while on those topical medications but stop the Retin-A 48 hours before procedure and do not use it again for 48 hours after your procedure.

Yes you can absolutely receive laser hair removal while being treated for acne. Of all the medications you mentioned, the Retin-A is the most irritating. We usually recommend not applying it for 1-2 weeks before each treatment. Make sure you let your provider know of all the medications your are on so they can work an an individualized treatment plan. Good luck!

Answer
You can receive Laser Hair Removal treatments as long as you are not taking a systemic acne medication. Stop applying the acne prescriptions and any retinol products 5-7 days prior to starting your treatment, these medications may increase sensitivity to the treated area.
Answer
Using acne medications certainly does not mean that you should avoid laser hair reduction. You took the right first step by checking with your dermatologist. Laser hair reduction is both safe and effective, but as always you should visit a provider that has the proper training and experience to perform your treatments. You may want to avoid your acne products for a day or two post-treatment, but definitely consult with your provider for their specific after care instructions. Good luck!
