Question

Am I candidate for this procedure? Severe asymmetry and nasal obstruction on left side. Although it appears that I have large, open nostrils (which I hate), I cannot breathe out of my left nostril almost at all throughout the day and the few moments I can, it's just barely. When I lay down, I 100% cannot breathe through my nose at all. I also broke my nose a few years back so the bone is crooked (pushed to the right). Please help

Post-traumatic rhinoplasty interventions can be challenging because of the degree of damage to the nasal septum. Using rib cartilage is additional support graft has been tremendous help in my experience both in terms of restoring nasal alignment and improving the nasal airway.
An intervention on the inferior turbinates may also be required to complemented the nasal airway correction generated by the straightening of the nasal septum.

Septorhinoplasty is the procedure that improves the function of breathing s well as the appearance of the nose. Trauma can frequently cause a severe deviation of the septum which can block the inside of the nose. A good examination is really needed to check this out. During your consultation your rhinoplasty surgeon will also listen to your goals related to changes in the appearance of your nose that you would like. Good luck.

You should be evaluated by a board certified plastic or ENT surgeon, expert in rhinoplasty. Reasons for nasal obstruction of that severity is usually combination of several factors, mostly deviated septum and enlarged turbinates. Structural septorhinoplasty with turbinectomy should be a procedure of choice to resolve both functional and aesthetic  issues. Good luck.
