Sounds normal. I advise my patients that it is common to have a temporary increase in sensitivity of the nipple for about 6 weeks because the nerve to the nipple is often temporarily stretched. When concerned, always a good idea to check in with your surgeon.Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
Hi HLH47, I understand your concern. Nipples tend to have increased sensitivity for 6 weeks after breast operations and then comes back to normal. However, if nipple sensitivity is lost it can take up to 6 months for it to return if at all. If the problem persists, you should visit your plastic surgeon for an in-person examination. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
