How can I treat forehead concavity? (Photo)

Question

Im very insecure about one spot of my forehead that is sunken in. I was considering getting dermal filler for it, but I heard that it’s very dangerous and can cause blindness. I also was curious about Botox because I have to intentionally lift my brows throughout the day or I look mad because they are naturally positioned lower. If those muscles were to relax, would that lessen the horizontal indent of my forehead?

Hi @AmandaRae! I would recommend dermal fillers to add volume to any concavity along the forehead. I do recommend seeking treatments from expert injectors who have the skill and experience to precisely inject fillers into treatment areas and avoid risks and complications. Botox will definitely help with the forehead lines but filler will be a better solution for you to restore the volume on your forehead. Fillers are not a permanent solution. When administered by a skilled injector, dermal fillers are a good option to restore volume to shallow contours, such as the forehead indentation you’re referring to. You may also benefit from a collagen stimulator such as Sculptra which can gradually increase volume in this area.
The results from dermal fillers can last for up to a year or more, while Sculptra results can last for up to two years. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified injector who can assess your concern and determine the best treatment option for you.

Filler to correct contour deformity in the forehead requires injections that are deep to the vascular supply of the forehead that could lead to retrograde flow of filler and blindness.  Contour injections in the forehead are safe and effective.  Open surgical correction is also an option but a distant second in your case.

The problem here is not that uncommon. In experienced hands, an appropriate highly cohesive, low viscosity HA filler can be injected in very superficially placed boluses to elevate and smooth this region. I encourage you to begin by visiting an experienced injector near you for an evaluation.  Botox may help minimize the appearance of the line. Fine lines and wrinkles may also be contributing to the appearance of this indentation; these can be smoothed by neurotoxins. For the concavity on your forehead we can do two things one is that we can do botox to reduce wrinkles and to also give you a nice brow lift and botox will also help in reducing horizontal creaves and will also give you a more strictured appearance.We can then see how is the appearance of the forehead after thatwe can do dermal fillers and dermal fillers can be done in two ways i.e via a cannula or a syringe if it is done by a cannnula then you can do under a very experienced dermatologist and it is very safe also along with the effect of filller lasting for a year however you should refrain  from doing very heavy fillers and specialized fillers and if you want to proceed then please consult a board certified dermatologist.
