Hi Good271127,I am Sarah, a medical assistant at Anil Shah Facial Plastic Surgery. While there are no specific contraindications against drinking coffee while receiving PRP injections, it is generally recommended to avoid caffeine consumption for a few hours before and after the procedure. This precaution is to help reduce the risk of potential side effects related to caffeine, such as increased heart rate or blood pressure.During a PRP injection procedure, a patient's blood is drawn and processed to concentrate the platelet-rich plasma, which is then injected back into the body, typically the scalp for hair growth treatment. The process of drawing blood and undergoing injections can be mildly stressful for some individuals. Caffeine can further increase stress responses in some people, leading to potential discomfort during or after the procedure. To ensure a smooth and comfortable experience during PRP injections, it's advisable to avoid caffeine-containing beverages such as coffee, tea, energy drinks, and soda for at least a few hours before and after the procedure. Instead, opt for water or other non-caffeinated beverages. As always, it's best to follow the specific instructions provided by your healthcare provider or the medical professional performing the PRP injections. If you have any concerns or questions about your specific case, don't hesitate to discuss them with your healthcare provider before the procedure. They can provide personalized guidance based on your health status and medical history
Hello, Dr. George Abrahamian here from LA FUE Hair Clinic in Pasadena, CA. Generally prior to any medical procedure, it is advisable to avoid caffeine due to its effects on increasing heart rate and blood pressure, which can in turn increase bleeding during procedure. However, there is no contraindication after a PRP procedure to have coffee or caffeine. It should not impact your results in any capacity. I hope this helps.
Caffeine has not been shown to alter the effectiveness of PRP therapy. The reason it’s recommended to avoid caffeine surrounding your appointment is that it can affect your blood flow and levels of bruising. Avoiding caffeine is a precaution to limit the potential side effects of PRP therapy, however, because these side effects are so minimal, there should also be no major effects even if you have consumed caffeine.
Hello, and thank you for your question. To my knowledge, there aren't any specific contradictions between caffeine and PRP. We suggest you don't drink coffee before PRP because the caffeine can cause a little faster heartbeat or perhaps a little more bleeding. I hope this helps.Dr. T
It should not affect the results of PRP, the reason of don’t take coffee before the procedure it’s because heart beat goes a little higher and could cause in theory more bleeding, but with small needles and some pressure over the area will be enough to prevent that
Yes, red light therapy (LLLT) and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments can be safely combined, offering enhanced results for hair restoration and skin rejuvenation. Red light stimulates cellular activity and promotes healing, while PRP delivers growth factors to repair tissue and stimulate...
Hi there! First of all, I’m so glad you’re seeing some new growth starting—that’s a great sign your scalp is responding. But I completely understand how stressful ongoing shedding can feel. I like to remind my patients that it’s normal to lose about 50–100 hairs a day, and shedding ...
When PRP is injected correctly (even as small “blebs” into the superficial dermis at follicle depth), it does not carry a clinically significant risk of shock loss, unless there is: - significant trauma from injection (too deep, too large boluses, or too many passes), - a compromised vas...
