Should I get submalar implants or something else for high cheekbones? (Photo)

Hi, I’m a 26 year old male and I want the high cheekbones look. I was wondering what the best method was to achieve this? As you can notice I’m missing quite a bit of cheek prominence on my face. Thank you

To enhance, augment, define the cheekbones, fillers, fat grafting or implants can all be options. Fillers offer temporary augmentation to the cheeks, and the injected material can be placed higher in the cheeks if that's what you desire. Cheek implants offer a permanent augmentation. Cheek implants are manufactured in a large array of thicknesses, sizes, and shapes which is best determined at the time of the consultation and examination. In our practice, we place cheek implants under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. The implants themselves are placed through an intraoral incision. It's very difficult to get high cheekbone look with cheek implants, since the implants themselves usually augment the entire mid-face and cheek area.

Technically the high cheekbone look begins at the level of the infraorbital rim and extends back horizontally across the main body of the cheek unto the zygomatic arch. This is not an effect that can be achieved by any standard cheek implants and most definitely not by a submalar implant style which creates a 'low'; cheek bone effect. This can only be achieved by a custom designed implant.

The method to enhance the cheekbone area will depend upon the balance with the rest of the face/nose/jawline. However, one can place implants, customizing the 'standard' ones at surgery; quite high towards the eye'rim'. One has to maintain a masculine look and not make the eyes 'deepset' either.
