It depends on who is doing them. In general we advise patients that they will need three sessions spaced out one week apart. I have heard others try to do this in one session. Our focus is go slow and do it right.
We generally perform three sessions. The reason is that in the first session, the pigment at times, gets absorbed by the body and loses its value. IF we overshot on the first session to anticipate this, then the first session might be too dark. On the second session we know what happens to the pigment by your body and we also know how it looks. As we often under-estimate the color, we then make it right on the second session. A third session is touch-ups. A full head might take over 20 hours of work divided in three sessions while a scar area will be half the time because we must put SMP above and below the scar to blend it with the surrounding scalp so that the scar can not be seen. Many clinics and tattoo parlors try to do it on one session and they will not have the detail in their work. In addition, the pigments may have dangerous metals in it. You must have only organic pigments used. See our website below
