YESImagine a needle going in and out of your head for 8 hours. It is as painful as a tattoo. Some areas on your body can be very sensitive. At our practice, we perform Scalp MicroPigmentation in a medical setting and offer local anesthesia as well as light sedation for a pain free experience.
There is minimal or no pain involved during or after scalp micropigmentation. Topical or local anesthesia make this procedure well tolerated. Please use this information when consulting in person with an experienced Certified Micropigmentation Specialist.
As physicians performing the procedure, we use a full local anesthetic, less concentrated than with a hair transplant but similar so that there is no feeling during the Scalp Micropigmentation process. Tattooists, can not give anesthesia so most people who have it done through non-physician sources have to put up with the pain. It is not unusual for us to use in excess of 40,000 dots on an entire head for 7 hours or so. With complete anesthesia, there is no pain, but without it, I have been told it is difficult and painful.
