Is it necessary to put any kind of cream or ointment (like Vaseline or Bacitracin) or scar cream on eyelids after Asian eyelid surgery? And if yes, for how long? And what does it do? Does it soften the eyelid crease and help make it heal faster?
Answer: It is very helpful to the healing process of the scars to apply Plato's scar serum twice daily Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Post op treatment for Asian eyelid surgery Thank you for sharing the question about post-operative care following Asian blepharoplasty. Antibiotic ointment should be applied for one week following surgery. If there seems to be any sign of inflammation or significant scar formation, then steroid cream can be used for a couple of weeks. Moisturizing sunblock and sunglasses should be used for a few months following surgery.Good luck.

Answer: Post op meds Generally, I recommend using ointment on the lids four times daily for the first week then discontinuing. Because lids have such good blood supply infections are not common. I wouldn't use cream on the eyelid to help soften the crease. The crease is important to allow the lid to fold over it.

Answer: Scar management after Asian blepharoplasty Hello jolie77! Typically, antibiotic ointment is used daily during the first week after surgery until the sutures are removed. If you are allergic to antibiotic ointment, then you can use vaseline. These are used to keep the fresh incision moist so as to facilitate healing. At around 2 weeks after surgery, most of my patients would start applying scar gel and/or sunscreen on the scar for scar management. The scar gel can be applied for 2-4 months. Hope that helps.

Answer: Scar gel after Asian blepharoplasty Jolie77, where is your surgeon? I think this is the second or third question we answered about healing for you. LOL in general it's good to use oint whether it be anabiotic appointment or Vaseline for the first five days. After that it's best to leave it off and don't use scar gel for the incision. Just treat it gently, clean and only, and moisturizer normal. many people think scar cream helps the eyelid incision and it does not. In fact keeping eyelid skin moist can irritate it so stay away from that after your sutures are removed. Chase Lay MD Asian eyelid surgery s
