I would imagine your plastic surgeon or ent is the best resource to answer this question.  Thus, do not consider my answer to be direct medical advice.  I ask my patients to stay away from nicotine for one month before and at least 2 wks after but in some cases up to a month.  But here is the most important thing on this matter.  After 6 wks away from nicotine, why ever go back? - the worse part of quitting cold turkey is over.
