Consider that right after the BBL there is swelling in the injected area, and then the swelling goes away slowly, meaning that takes about 3 to 4 months for most of the swelling to go away, then is when the patient is going to see the final results from the surgery.Once the transferred fat to the buttocks survives, then the results last for years. It is important that the patient know that the transferred fat behaves as fat, so if the patient loses weight the transferred fat will shrink too, and if the patient gains weight, it will increase in size. I have patients who had the procedure done more than 10 years ago and they still have the volume from the BBL they got.

The use of fat transfer for buttock enlargement is the much preferred technique for enhancing and contouring the buttocks. In my statistics about 30% of the patients will want or need a second fat transfer. In my experience, if after 6 weeks, the buttocks appear very staisfactory, then it's very unlikely that there will be any absorption of fat after this time. The fat that survives the initial inflammatory period of 6 weeks will generally be very long lasting, and most likely, be permanent.
