Indent on nose after rhinoplasty? I had my rhinoplasty 8 days ago. (Photo)

Question

This morning I noticed an indent on my nose on the left side of the tip. I know most of you might say that it’s part of the swelling process and to give it time, as I have already read some of the advice on here but how often do these idents after rhinoplasty usually go away/heal overtime? How common are these indents during the swelling process?

This can occur after rhinoplasty for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, it is swelling in an adjacent area that creates a relative depression next to it. Sometimes, it is an actual depression itself from movement of cartilage and/or a graft. I would recommend just being patient and watching this area evolve. You are quite early in the healing process. Many things will change in appearance as the healing process unfolds. Bring it to your rhinoplasty surgeon's attention and they will likely walk you through it.

Thank you for your question. 
With any nasal surgery, the name of the game is patience. At one week, we would expect you to have quite a bit of swelling and bruising still noticeable and may have trouble breathing out of one or both nostrils. By the end of two weeks, typically, you will still be swollen but look more like you have a bad cold, rather than post surgical. Swelling can take up to a year to be completely gone, however, by 9 weeks you will look very good and should see big difference from your pre-op pics.
