I can't breathe at 4 months post-op rhinoplasty and septoplasty. What can I do?

Hi! I'm really concerned because at 1 mo post op, my right nostril was stuffed and my surgeon prescribed me Clarityne for 1 mo. It improved (but not at all), after it I have b issues again. At 3 mo he prescribed me Prednisone for 10 days at high doses and Clarityne (helped while taking), the right turbinate was big. Right now I cannot breathe from both of my nostrils. Sometimes they "open" from their stuffiness and I can. What are other possibilities of my breathing issues? What can I do next?

Its difficult to know the cause of your nasal obstruction without  a formal nasal examination.  The common causes of post operative congestion include  anatomic narrowing of the nasal passage due to a residual deviated septum, nasal scarring known as synechia, nasal valve compromise, or mucosal swelling/ turbinate hypertrophy.

Hello and thank you for your questions.  I am sorry you are having problems with your breathing. It would not be possible to know the cause of this without examining you.  At four months there is still likely to be some swelling which should settle over the next few months. Synechiae (adhesions) formation is also a possibility. It would be best to be checked over by your surgeon who is best placed to guide you.therhinoplastysurgeon.com
