Gummy bear implants 1 year and 4 months post op. Lumps in left breast. What could they be? (photo)

Your implants are intact, you don't need an MRI. You should be seen by your OB for a breast check up. It is likely you have lumpy breast tissue. If she clears you, then you can wait to be seen by your surgeon at your convenience. Best of luck!

Thank you for your question. You are correct in that you need some form of breast imaging study. It could be MRI or mammogram. Please contact your primary care doctor/Plastic surgeon/gynecologist and they can order this for you.

Thanks for posting. Seeing your doctor or calling your doctor would be a great idea. Sometimes lumps along the scar are from internal stitches that your body has reacted to. If lumps are not along the scar but elsewhere, they may represent a number of different things. Mammogram and possibly ultrasound are the best methods to make sure these are not something serious. In person examination with your plastic surgeon or another local qualified plastic surgeon may be helpful as well.

Any lump or mass in the breast needs to be fully investigated. You are right to say that an MRI is an option, although a mammogram would also give you a good idea of what is going on in your breast tissue, and would be perhaps easier to schedule and more economical. If you can get in to see your Plastic Surgeon soon that would be preferable, as they would be aware of your previous breast exam and surgery. If you cannot get in to see your own Plastic Surgeon, please seek out a physician who could examine you and discuss your exam by phone with your own Plastic Surgeon. Do not wait long to have this addressed.

When lumps are felt in the breast a mammogram is needed.  Contact your surgeon or your GYN doctor regarding an order for the test.
