I am 2 months and 11 days (10 weeks) post op from my breast augmentation. I have 415cc on my LEFT and 485cc on my RIGHT due to being asymmetrical. My left breast has dropped and fluffed around the edges but my right still sits high. I've been doing my massages for 5 weeks now, only 3 weeks I was consistent with the massages. Will this require surgery?
Answer: Massage Doesn't Do Anything Hello,You'll need to wait a full 6 months before they are considered healed enough to evaluate. In the mean time you can stop massaging. Massaging implants have proven to be ineffective in preventing or treating capsular contracture, the most common complication of breast augmentation, and is not necessary for normal healing. The big problem I have with your surgeon (and many other surgeons around the country) telling you to massage is that it puts the responsibility on you for your result to turn out well. If you don't, you blame yourself, which is wrong ('only three weeks I was consistent'). Stop massaging, and stop worrying. Best of luck!

Answer: One Breast Still Higher Thanks for your question! Judging by your photos, I think that you really look good for 10 weeks out. Your right side is probably a little higher because it had a larger implant placed on that side. I think with time it will continue to improve. I personally am also a fan of implant massage, and it has served me well in my experience of doing thousands of breast augmentation surgeries. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Implant dropping Dear Dmb2036,Dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about your implants are not dropping as expected. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. If after six months, you are not satisfied with the appearance of your breast, you can visit your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Answer: High implant Thank you for your question and photos. My recommendation is be patient. You're only 10 weeks out. Things will continue to evolve. Continue to massage your breast. If your implant is still high in 6 months talk to your surgeon. There is a small procedure that can be performed called capsulotomy to lower your right breast implant. I don't think you will need this however. Good luck. DrMaz

Answer: 10 weeks after breast augmentation. One breast is still high. Should I be worried? (photos) Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. After placement of implants, the appearance of the breasts will change dramatically over the next several months, as the implants drop, and the overlying tissue stretches to accommodate the extra volume. In your case the swelling from surgery is flattening your right implant and holding it high on your chest. Though your left has settled the right lagging is not uncommon and often is the result of the increased volume in that side. I know waiting is difficult, but judge your results at 4-6 months after surgery as most of your breast changes should have occurred by then. Hope this helps.
