The feeling of heat radiating from the skin post Halo treatment is considered normal. Most patients will feel an intense sensation of heat for 1-3 hours right after treatment. Over the counter pain relievers can help to reduce discomfort as well as staying cool.
This laser generates heat on the skin. your physician should have gone through an extensive list of expectations and procedures after that would help improve this. in our practice we have a protocol of skin care and cooling immediately post laser procedure to keep our patients comfortable and it is all explained before the procedure. Best, Dr. Emer.
Everyone feels 'the burn' after a Halo Treatment. Even though Halo is considered a 'cool' laser there is tissue injury in those columns we call 'MENDS'(microscopic endothelial necrotic debris) and there is exposure of deep tissue to surface elements. Both of these cause some inflammation which is felt as heat. Cool spring water misting, pure hyaluronic gels, PRP and lots of cold air from the Zimmer get the heat out and initiate the healing process faster.
Feeling a warm or burning sensation after HALO laser treatment is very common. Immediately after the treatment I apply a cream called KoolDown which contains aloe vera and lidocaine. It burns when first applied but then soothes the skin and patients love it. There are likely other similar creams that can be used. Check with the performing physician about their recommendations. Additionally, some cool compresses to the face can be soothing as well. The burning sensation usually stops after 24-48 hours. I hope you enjoy the results of your HALO treatment.
Right after the treatment you will feel like you just had a sunburn. We need to induce a thermal injury for the skin to respond by making new skin. This is a normal expectation and the feeling will subside in 2-3 hours. If it is too discomforting you can take Tylenol extra strength.
Thank you for your question about the Halo procedure. The Halo treatment offers both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths. The benefit of the Halo is that patients get the benefit of an ablative laser without the downtime of a fully ablative laser. Providers are able to fine tune the sett...
The Halo can be effective in reducing pore size and treating acne scarring. Depending on the severity of the scarring a more aggressive treatment may be necessary. It is always best to consult with a provider that can analyze your skin and recommend the best procedures to...
The post-care instructions for Halo may vary for provider. At our office we give 1 GM of Valtrex and 10 mg Prednisone just prior to the procedure and 2 days post-therapy. We also use Alastin Nectar Serum only for the first 24 hours and Alastin Occclusive Moisturizer for 1-2 weeks. Immediately...
I would follow up with the provider who performed the treatment. They can evaluate your skin and determine the best treatments/products to help resolve your concerns.
Although the Halo laser is not primarily for skin tightening, many patients do feel and see a tightening effect. The ablative setting of this laser is takes off dead skin and the non-ablative layer stimulates collagen causing a natural tightening effect.
Depending on what concerns you have I would recommend anywhere from 1- 3 sessions. If the concern is full texture resurfacing (deep wrinkles, crepey/sagging skin, UV damage, pores) especially for patients 40 +. I would recommend a series of 3 sessions spaced 2 months apart. Then for maintenance...
