Even if a dentist can perform hair restoration surgery WHY would you want to go to a dentist? Would you go to a hair transplant surgeon to perform your dental work?Legally dentist cannot operate on the scalp and hair restoration surgeons cannot operate in the mouth.Only exception may be an oral surgeon (or doctors) who have a double degree (MD/ DDS).
I have no ability to operate on your mouth and I would have the integrity to tell you that if you came to my office asking for dental surgery. No matter the money you offered, I would refer you to a specialist. I would hope your dentist would do the same with hair surgery. It is a complicated surgical procedure under the best conditions to get things to turn out right. Do the smart thing and go to an experienced professional!
Hair transplantation is a difficult procedure to learn and achieve the best results. Not only should does a surgeon need to be surgically skilled but they also need to have artistic ability in addition to diagnosing scalp conditions that would preclude hair transplantation. There are three answers to this question. 1- A dentist must be allowed by state law to do surgery on the scalp. Most states don't allow this2- Is a dentist trained and experienced in hair transplantation, probably not3- If the dentist legally can do this, would you want someone without experience doing this on your head?
If you want options for your hair loss you need to see a doctor for an exam first. Photos cannot confirm a diagnosis and Internet doctors cannot give you a treatment plan.
You need to ask your surgeon how your hair may look after surgery. Each doctor and each patient is different and so are the results. What may be "OK" for one doctor may not be "OK" with another.
It is unlikely that you hurt your grafts 2 weeks after your transplant. By two weeks the follicles are nicely healed, and the grafts should have taken. Thanks for sharing!
