Is Breast Augmentation covered under FMLA?

I person wouldn't have enough vacation time to recover from my BA. Can the surgery be covered under FMLA: Family Medical Leave Act? What do people tell their workplace? Don't to know they are having a BA.

Yes, I consider it major surgery.  This surgery will change your body and self image.  Implants will require replacement 10-15 years in the future.  There is a scar and healing time.  Most women are very pleased with the results.

How will my doctor know if I smoked cigarettes before surgery?

A test can be done to detect nicotine prior to surgery, but not all surgeons do this.  Please discuss this with your surgeon.  Smoking inhibits healing and can affect the final outcome.  Good luck.Sincerely,Dr. Michelle Spring

Is it normal to still have pain 17 days after breast augmentation?

I definitely have patients with some degree of discomfort 2-3 weeks after breast augmentation surgery.  It is also common to have more pain in one side.  This may relate to a bit more swelling or bruising on one side.  In some cases, I feel that it is even related to handedness...
