Can Tegaderm give lateral support to healed incisions? How does it compare to Mircopore in terms of tape therapy for scars.

4 week post op of a mastoplexy, steri strips since surgery & exploring my longterm options for reducing scaring. I have had success w/ Mircopore taping in the past. Hoping find a way to keep tape clean & on longer as well as laterally support my scars, specially the vertical ones. I know tegaderm will keep things clean and be semi occlusive as a bonus. But do you think tegaderm has a enough structural to provide support of the scar from tension & reduce the need for extra taping or tape at all?

I would not call a breast augmentation minor surgery. You are anesthetized, you take narcotic pain medications, you have a (brief) period of disability.  But most women are functional the same day, and back to work in 3-5 days.Age requirements are a minimum of 18 years old (22 for silicone...

A test can be done to detect nicotine prior to surgery, but not all surgeons do this.  Please discuss this with your surgeon.  Smoking inhibits healing and can affect the final outcome.  Good luck.Sincerely,Dr. Michelle Spring

I definitely have patients with some degree of discomfort 2-3 weeks after breast augmentation surgery.  It is also common to have more pain in one side.  This may relate to a bit more swelling or bruising on one side.  In some cases, I feel that it is even related to handedness...
