After a breast reduction, how long will it take for my breasts to drop and not be so perky? (Photo)

I had my breast reduction from an F to a C three days ago. I am left feeling like my breasts are too small now, but I think that will change once they drop and soften. How long does it usually take for that to happen? - and for them to stop looking so "boxy"?

Thank you for your pictures.  Your breast reduction looks pretty good for 3 days after the surgery.  Your breast will undergo many changes over the next 3 months.  After 3 months, you can better evaluate the true result

Thank you for your question.I get the question of relaxing/dropping/softening often after a breast reduction procedure.  Because everybody heals at different rates, I typically say 3-6 months.  You can evaluate the final size at that point as well.  The scars themselves may mature over the course of a year, and may stay red longer for you than most people due to your skin tone and hair color.  I hope the surgery alleviates some of the issues you were having beforehand.  My breast reduction patients are usually the happiest ones in my practice.  Congratulations on having the procedure done.

It can take anywhere from 3-6 months for your breasts to fully heal and drop/settle although your scars will continue to improve for about a year. Hope this helps -- Dr. Nazarian

To be honest, a patient feeling that her breasts are too small after a breast reduction would be an absolute rarity, as the opposite is infinitely more common...You should wait around six months before making a final judgement, but it looks like you have got a very good result, and the boxy shape is normal at this early stage.

Okay, put down the camera, put your feet up, have a cup of tea and send your plastic surgeon a thank you note.  You look terrific for post op day three.  Make sure you follow up with your surgeon and follow all of his/her instructions.  Seeking advice from a bunch of strangers is not likely going to contribute to your recovery.
