I am a 38 year old female who is very distressed by my poor lower profile. I have the beginnings of jowls, turkey neck, and a double chin. I've always had a slight double chin, even at my thinnest. There's a genetic tendency toward this on my mother's side. The neck tends to look "dropped" after a certain age.I also feel that my cheeks lack volume. I'm currently on treatment 2 of 4 of microneedling to firm my face and neck, but is this enough for now? I am also about 15 lbs overweight with posture issues.
Answer: Do I need a neck lift at age 38? Hello Thank you for providing some photos with your question. Based on your photos and the history you have provided, you may some options to help you but I do not believe this would be neck lift at the moment. Consulting with a surgeon in-person to discuss your options would be the best. You may consider a small chin implant. For some young people like you, a chin implant alone is usually all that is needed to improve the appearance of the neck. Liposuction of the double chin at the same time will improve your neck contour as well. An endoscopic mid face lifting will also help you to improve the volume loss at your midface cheek area. I would recommend a consultation with a plastic surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in your area. Best luck

Answer: Facial Slimming — Masseter Botox, Facetite/Renuvion J Plasma, Buccal Fat Pad Removal, Fillers to sculpt the Cheek/Jawline/Chin This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. Buccal fat pad gives slimming not symmetry. Masseter botox will make you slimmer and make the jawline more loose. Fillers help give shaping and contouring. If you want perfect or close to perfect symmetry you need maxillofacial surgery or implants customized. I suggest seeing an expert to go through all options. Most of my younger clients use fillers to give them shaping especially on the cheeks, jawline, and chin which make the face look more slim and tight; and threads such as PDO or Instalift can build collagen and support the facial shaping and skin looseness over time, slowing down the aging process and given the face a more “snatched” look; and morpheus8 or PiXel8 deep microneedling RF can tighten crepe skin especially on the neck and jawline and is great for long term tightening of the full face, neck and chest; its often used to give the face a slimmer more sculpted look because it tightens the skin and gives lift. an early face lift can be performed as well even in younger clients if they want a different facial shape, maxillofacial surgery with bone breaking or shaving can also be done. For facial slimming a combination of treatments are always needed. Options include: 1. Buccal fat pad removal to reduce fat on the lower face 2. Factite or Renuvion/J Plasma to tighten the lower face, jawline, and chin to reduce fat and give the jawline and neck tightening and shaping. 3. Botox to the masseter to reduce the muscular size of the jaw giving the face an illusion of being more slender 4. Fillers to the jawline, chin, cheeks, temples and brow help to shape the face and make it more angled and defined Always use at home derma rolling (see link to Emerageskin x anteageMD roller plus stem cells/hyaluronic acid ampules) and peels like emeragecosmetics enlighten or aerify that can be used to improve skin quality and tighten the skin while improving wrinkles, pigmentation, acne, and Melasma. See an expert who does facial shaping with surgical and non surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Correction of a double chin: Liposuction, chin implant, Renuvion Powered by J-Plasma, Ultherapy, Coolsculpting, Kybella Hello and thank you for your question and photos! Bases on your photos and the history you have provided, you would do well with liposuction of the chin and neck. You may consider a small chin implant. We have some very exciting new technologies for non-invasive tightening of the neck. Renuvion Powered by J-Plasma (Cool Helium Plasma) along with liposuction can produce dramatic improvement in skin laxity and fat reduction. This technology has produced beautiful results for correction of a double chin or turkey neck without the surgical incisions around the ears required for a traditional neck lift. Ultherapy and other non invasive treatments for fat reduction A (Coolsculpting, Kybella) would also be an option. Adding an injectable filler to the cheeks is a nice way to add back some of the volume you have lost and create a nice contour and highlight the cheek area. Microneedling will benefit the overall quality of your skin. I would recommend a consultation with a Plastic Surgeon who is well versed in all aspects of facial rejuvenation and is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in your area. Wishing you the best of luck! Andrew Lyos, MD, FACS

Answer: Do You Need A Neck Lift At 38 It's best to begin by consulting with a surgeon in-person to discuss your options. The presence of banding down the front of the #neck, and, amount of excess skin and condition of your skin are among some factors which determine what treatments will best rejuvenate your neck. Neck lifts are designed to remove only deep grooves and #wrinkles, not fine ones. Smoothing out every tiny line in your face would leave you with an eerie, unnatural, and undesirable result. The goal should be to make your neck lift look as natural as possible, simply turning back the clock a few years. #Liposuction is often used during the neck lift if necessary.During your initial examination, your chin will be evaluated along with the neck and jawline. A weak #chin implies a lack of chin support for the skin along the neck line. In younger individuals a chin implant alone is usually all that is needed to improve the appearance of the neck. Subsequently, it will also improve the overall #balance of the face and can create the illusion of a smaller nose. As a stand-alone procedure, chin augmentation can be performed in the office under local #anesthesia. For individuals with signs of #aging in the neck, a chin implant added to one of the recommended procedures above, will provide optimal results. If you are not a candidate at the time of your #consultation, your board certified plastic surgeon can recommend alternatives to address your concern. Consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in #neck lift procedures is important to ensure you are receiving the best advice, care, and surgical experience possible.
