Hi there, I’m a single mom with an 18-month-old who weighs about 28 lbs. I have scheduled my breast augmentation surgery for this October. I’ll have assistance for the first two weeks post-op, but after that, it will be just me and my son. Can you advise if it’s safe to lift him after two weeks, and any tips on how to safely lift a toddler following surgery? Thank you!

Answer: My Recomendation Dear Cariiinnyyy, thanks for sharing your concerns, I do not recommend to lift, push, carry, pull more than 10 pounds at least 3 weeks after surgery. Make sure you go on consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Hope this helps and best of lucks! Dr. Luis Mejia.

Answer: Lifting restrictions Your lifting restrictions may be influenced by if you are choosing above or below the muscle placement. Typically you will want to limit weight to 10 lbs for the first few weeks. As you will only have help for two weeks try to minimize lifting your son unless necessary. Use your leg muscles versus your back when lifting. Your surgeon will review post op instructions in more detail with you.
