After getting lipo on my legs and butt, I got a double crease on only one of my butt cheeks. Why did this occur and is it possible to fix without more procedures? For example, if I gain muscle in this area can it fill it out?
Answer: Double crease Dear Fierce5299, This area is hard to treat and you might need additional liposuction or fat transfer in order to get better results. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Fixing double crease on buttocks A simple way to make the double crease go away just to lean forward just slightly. I'm not saying this to be facetious but rather to demonstrate the true ideology of why the skin increase is there. Because the hips have a wide angle of flexion there has to be skin laxity in the back of the thigh to allow for this movement. In an upright standing position the skin is pushed together just like the lower abdomen bulges when we sit. There's a fair amount of connective tissue on the buttocks and back of the thigh which makes the skin somewhat rigid and has less movement. Kind of like the skin on the palm of the hand compared to the back of the hand. In the standing upright position the skin on the back of the thigh is pushed up into the buttocks. And some people this causes a fold often called a banana roll or a crease to form. Manipulating the underlying fad can change the contour. It's important to remember that the primary ideology is skin bulging. This is why I said to make the crease go away just bend forward and watch it disappear. Of course that's not a solution to your perceived problem. My recommendation is to do nothing. The results for me liposuction it looked great and I would count your blessings and stop while you're still ahead. Suggestions like for their liposuction, fat transfer or even worse as skin excision are only going to make it worse. You have a beautiful bottom and should be proud of your body. Leave good enough alone and don't do any more surgery. I'm not saying it couldn't be improved but what I am saying is can definitely be made worse. To me the chance of it being worse is high enough that my recommendation is to do nothing Others will be more motivated or optimistic for surgical intervention. I've been doing this long enough to generally know what works and what doesn't work. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
