Thanks for your question.It looks like following the infection you may have developed a keloid or hypertrophic scar. If it is uncomfortable, it may be worth trying a steroid injection into the scar which can help soften it. It is possibly best to see your doctor to assess this and either refer on to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to review it. If you dont have stretched scars elsewhere then you could consider having this area surgically treated by removing the scar. If the area got infected then it will be swollen and inflamed for a lot longer and putting the bar in too early will aggravate it. It would be worth avoiding the bar and let it all resolve. Sometimes following the scarring it can develop into a hypertrophic scar. This may settle with steroid injections.It would be worth seeing your doctor to check that 1) the infection has truly settled or is still agrumbling background problem2) the scar is not becoming keloid/ hypertrophicI hope this is helpful for you BW
