What do thin capsules contain after implant removal?

Do capsules contain traces of breast implant material after implant removed? Do traces of textured implant remain in capsules which can lead to ALCL in future? Are thin capsules absorbed by the body? How long take for capsules to go hard to have total capsule removal? Jan 2023 had BA surgery mentor textured. Numerous BII symptoms getting worse daily. GP already done tests for other causes. Three surgeons told capsules to thin to remove. Want implants gone but need to make best decision.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are having since your breast augmentation.  The capsule that surrounds the implant is scar tissue that is formed by the body to provide a barrier between the implant and the rest of the body.  This is a natural process.  Unless the capsules are thickened or otherwise causing problems it is an option to remove them or leave them behind.  Unless your implants have ruptured there should be no implant material embedded in the capsules.

Hello @BAquestions23, thank you for your question. The "capsule" refers to the scar tissue that forms around the breast implant as a natural part of the healing process. The thickness of the capsule varies from person to person and can also change over time. Unless the breast implant has ruptured, the capsule should not contain the material of the breast implant itself, except that it may contain scar tissue and some inflammatory cells. Best wishes! Even with complete removal of the capsule, the ALCL risk is not completely eliminated. With thin capsules, the posterior aspect may be difficult to remove without damaging the chest wall. If the chest wall is damage, it could lead to a pneumothorax and emergency trip to the hospital for a chest tube and possible ICU stay.  The capsule is scar tissue that responds to a foreign material inside the body.
