Hi, I had a deep plane facelift 10 months ago, and have noticed two indents in my cheeks which haven’t softened. Is this a complication that can be resolved with a revision?

Contour irregularities or small indentations in the cheek area after a deep plane facelift can have several possible causes. These may include scar tissue beneath the skin, localized volume changes, changes in soft tissue position, or the way the deeper structures settled during healing. Without examining you in person, I cannot give a specific diagnosis or recommend a specific correction.

At ten months after surgery, the tissues are still maturing. Some contour irregularities may continue to soften or improve over the first twelve to eighteen months, while others may persist without significant further change.

Whether an indent is correctable — and by what method — depends on the underlying cause. Some cases may respond to fat grafting or conservative filler, while others may require a more formal revision. In some cases, observation may still be appropriate.

I would recommend a careful in-person evaluation with your operating surgeon or with a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in facial revision surgery before deciding on any treatment plan.
