Would cheek implants help lift sagging cheeks around mouth? (Photo)

I previously had a lefort 1 to correct an underbite but feel that my cheeks are still quite flat anteriorly and that my under eye area is very hollow for someone my age (22 years). I also think I have a lot of heaviness around my lower face and was wondering if cheek implants could help lift this area some.

Facial sculpting and contouring can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Countour, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra, which would give improvement in facial balance. Fat or implants are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question and photos. There are a few options for adding volume and definition to the cheek area. Injectable fillers are a non-surgical approach that can lift the cheeks and add fullness for results that last approximately 6-12 months. 
For results that are more long-lasting, a fat transfer or insertion of cheek implants may be considered. An autologous fat transfer injects harvested fat into the cheeks to restore volume with results lasting up to three years or longer for some patients. Cheek implants can be customized to increase cheekbone projection and balance facial proportions. They can be permanent, though silicone implants are easy to remove if desired at a later time. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon who can help you decide on the best approach for achieving your aesthetic goals.

Take heart. Your issue is a fairly common one and seen practically every day in an active cosmetic dermatology practice. The use of a robust volumizing filler, such as Voluma XC properly injected in an adequate amount can easily remedy the problem seen in the photos and with immediate results that typically engender a "Wow!" response. Proper treatment will not only create a more oval, heart-shaped face with sufficient cheek projection, but will lift them to diminish the lower face heaviness. Yes, your 'underbite' was due to an upper jaw underdevelopment. The 'upper jaw' extends to the rim of the eye and to the cheekbone line. So a properly contoured/adjusted implant will be a positive change for you and provide balance to the lower face and accentuate the eyes as well.
