The incisions for the most common issues with otoplasty surgery are usually behind the ear and would be away from the piercing. Usually, the antihelical fold of the ear is recreated and the ear is also brought closer to the head. If this is the case with your operation, the piercing should still be ok. If it is a surgery to recreate the helical rim, that may be an issue.
The incisions used for otoplasty is farther away from the area off industrial piercing. Once the healing is complete in about 3 months you can undergo the ear piercing.RegardsDr. J
Think twice about the piercing. Those cartilage piercings are really a bear when they get infected. They are much more of a problem than the lobe piercings. I've had a couple of patients who required inpatient stays with IV antibiotics for this.I would have my patients wait a year before considering this.
There should be no issue with piercing after an otoplasty. My only advice would be to allow sufficient time for the area to heal. Also consult with your physician.Hope this helps
Hi max93,Based from the photos, the asymmetry between the 2 sides of your ears can be correcter by cartilage modification, should it really concern you.
If that ridge of cartilage troubles you it can be removed/ smoothed with an in office procedure. The good news is that the size/ shape of your ears are otherwise completely normal. Every surgeon LOVES performing otoplasty procedures but you should seek out someone who performs alot of otoplasty...
