I have a hole in my septum. Can it be fixed?

In most cases, a septal perforation can be surgically repaired. If you want to avoid surgery/ recovery a septal button can be placed which is a soft silicon shim that plugs the perforation. Some people tolerate the button very well, others find it to be uncomfortable or challenging to care for.The key to success, however, is to ensure that you completely stop traumatizing your nasal septum. What you describe is called a septal perforation.  You should not be embarrassed.  Everyone picks their nose, so don't be hard on yourself.  Septal perforations can definitely be repaired, depending on the size and some other factors.  You should absolutely consult with a specialist in this area.  Not every nose surgeon has the expertise to tackle this difficult case.  Good luck!
