Air bubble in the right breast, 4 weeks post-op, under muscle silicon.

Question

I had my surgery 4 weeks ago under muscle silicon implant 325 cc high profile and now after 4 weeks i experience what seems like air bubbles under the skin and i can move the air by pressing the area. Is it normal at this stage , will it go away ? And is the best to do in this case ? Thanks

Thanks for the question. In my practice, after performing a BA I recommend to my patients to limit the movement of the arms for two weeks. After that, you can move your arms taking care and always with common sense. In this regard, it's not advisable to carry heavy weights to prevent the implant out of position, and allow the formation of the physiological capsule around the implant, also to avoid pain and breast swelling. Kind regards

Air and fluid is always present once the skin is closed after a breast augmentation. Its hard to know what you are experiencing without an exam. It could indeed be fluid or air, but it could also be the edge of the implant that you are feeling. Please give your PS a call and get inn for an exam.Eric Weiss MD

It's hard to answer this your questions online.  Certainly there are some air bubbles that get trapped under the skin during breast augmentation and those do eventually go away.  Sometimes, when patients think they are feeling air bubbles, it's actually the edge of the implant which can have small folds.  An examination by your PS would be the best way to get your questions answered.

Hi and thanks for your question.  Yes, this is normal at your stage in recovery.  I typically tell people to continue with their implant massage during this time and it will resolve slowly.
