I went to Brazil for a tummy tuck and bbl. The surgeon decided to do a fat transfer to my face without my consent. I’m still dealing with side affects such as extreme dark circles under my eyes, and a lump of fat under one eye. Is there ANYTHING that can be done to fix this? I have an appointment with a certified plastic surgeon but I would like to hear others options before going. Thank you
Answer: Blepharoplasty and Laser Treatments Hi, firstly I would like to say I am sorry to hear about your previous experience! I must stress that the hyperpigmentation under your eyes would be difficult to treat and sometimes surgery is not the best solution. For the bump under your eye, careful blepharoplasty may improve the result. This would mean opening the skin under the eyelids in order to find the lump and remove it. For the dark circles under the eyes, one may require a combination of skin treatment with appropriate ingredients and non-surgical treatments involving laser procedures.

Answer: Eyelid Fat Transfer Fat transfer to the lower eyelid is a very delicate procedure. Too little fat results in persistent hollowness while too much fat can cause lumps. You can do gentle finger tip massage 2-4 times per day over the lumps to flatten these areas. There is usually a combination of fat and swelling in the grafted area. Over the course of a few months the swelling will resolve and some of the fat will disappear and you usually will see the final result in 6 months. Should the lumps not resolve by 6 months and they feel firm then they would need to be surgically removed. This is a technically challenging procedure and is best handled by an oculoplastic surgeon (ophthalmologist who specializes in eyelid surgery). The discoloration is likely a result of bruising and it should resolve over a few months time.
