Chemical peels can
be used for acne scars in many cases. Ice pick acne scars are some of the most
difficult to use and even though you are thinking that the ice pick scars may
be getting worse, the reality is that this is not the case, in almost every
patient that has this done. The peels may be clearing some of the other
concerns that you may have, and leaving the ice pick scars more pronounced –
but peels per se will not make ice pick scars worse – especially with the peel
concentrations that you have had done. Much deeper chemical peels will work
somewhat better here, and in many cases, other procedures can be done which
might work better, including the sublative devices such as the Syneron eMatrix
or the Venus Viva; and RF microneedling, like the EndyMed Intensif, may make
the ice pick scars better faster. Always consult with a board-certified
dermatologist or plastic surgeon and work with them to get the best possible
results from these types of procedures.
