As the skin strengthens with your first chemical peel, you will likely have less peeling and dryness with subsequent peels. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
The results of chemical peels are dependent on how much is put on and the depth. My suggestion is that if you want a more superficial less downtime peel then you ask your physician for that. If you want one that is deeper then you can consider other types of peels. I find that with the laser technologies out there being so advanced you can get safer, longer lasting results from seeing a cosmetic dermatologist who specializes in anti-aging and skin care. Thanks for your question. Your downtime can vary from one peel to the next. It depends on how thick or thin your stratum corneum (outer most layer of skin) is, if you are using exfoliating products between peels etc. It is wise to plan on the same amount of downtime as the last peel. If you are getting a deeper peel done it may require more downtime. It is best to discuss all questions or concerns you have with your skin care professional before any procedure. Best wishes.
There are many variables that affect the healing time. This can include the amount of sun damage present, the relative dryness.oiliness of the skin, how aggressively the peel is applied, peel strength etc. Repeat peels often take similar periods of time to heal (7-10 days), but can sometimes be quicker depending upon the initial peel results. Best regards.
