I'm not sure when you had your injections, but it can take 1-2 weeks for final results with fillers. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Keep in mind, a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement for laugh lines. I recommend fillers for the folds themselves but also lifting around the mouth and cheeks to build underlying anatomical support. In our practice we combine sculptra with other fillers "layered" on top and lasers, rf treatments, J Plasma and peels to get the most conservative natural look. Please see a facial sculpting expert. It depends on when you had the filler injected and what type of filler was used. It usually takes 1-2 weeks for swelling and bruising to go down and lumps and bumps to smooth out. Sometimes you can feel a lump when you press on the area, but if it is not visible or painful you can just leave it alone. If it has been over 2 weeks and the lumps and bumps are visible or bothering you and an HA filler was used, you can have it dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down HA fillers. You may need more than 1 session. Good luck!
I tell my patients that it is normal to feel the filler and for there to be some small lumps and bumps for about 7 - 14 days. I ask them not to massage or mess with it during that time. As long as the filler is a hyaluronic acid based one (such as Juvederm, Voluma, or Restalyn), then lumps can easily be smoothed out. I recommend following up with your provider. Ideally, they can gently heat the lumps with a laser and then smooth them.Best of luck to you.
Sorry to hear that - lumps and bumps are not a normal part of treatment, so the first thing I would suggest is to contact your doctor and get their advice, as they should be best placed to help you. As to the cause and the best of managing these it depends on a number of factors - what filler was used, how long ago were you treated, is there any pain or redness. Without all of this information its not possible to give you clear advice, so again contacting your doctor should be the first thing to do.Best wishes,
Thank you for this interesting question, which is so often a topic of conversation, even debate, within the industry. Both Board Certified Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons are considered Core Specialists for treating with Fillers and Botox. However, the most important factor...
It's possible that treatment with pulsed dye laser or other vascular laser would improve this. I would get a consultation with an experienced laser doctor to discuss in person. It's very important to protect this area from the sun and wear daily sunscreen. Regards,Dr. Ort
Hi Marie,My recommendation to you is to follow your doctor's advice. I usually say not to massage after fillet placement and allow the product to settle where I've placed it. With that said, there have been times that I instructed my parishes to massage a certain area after injections. It ...
