I’ve found plastic surgeons and dermatologist charge about the same for fillers. Is it really much better to go to one vs. the other?
Answer: See a Plastic Surgeon for Fillers Both plastic surgeons and dermatologists can do injectables and Botox, but the plastic surgeon can also visualize beyond the fillers and see a broader picture of what is needed to rejuvenate your face. There is now a wide range of fillers available from thin (Volbella) to medium (Juvederm XC and Vollure) to deep (Voluma - for volume). The proper selection of each will optimize your result Stephen M. Krant, MD, FACS

Answer: Get Fillers (Restylane, Juvederm, Voluma) with a Board-Certified Doctor You'll want to see a board certified doctor with skill, expertise, and the best techniques with fillers. Look at doctors who do live filmings, teachings, and have good before and after photos on social media sites! Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Training and Fillers All core trained Physicians (Facial Plastic Surgeons, Dermatologists, Oculoplastic Surgeons, and Dermatologists) are trained in and should be familiar with fillers. However, I would make a differentiation when a Physician is trained in ER/ Family/ Internal Medicine or some other specialty that has no training in facial aesthetics or anatomy. I personally perform all of the injections in my practice, due to preference on the part of my patients.

Answer: Both Are Considered Core Specialists ... But Always Insist .... Thank you for this interesting question, which is so often a topic of conversation, even debate, within the industry. Both Board Certified Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons are considered Core Specialists for treating with Fillers and Botox. However, the most important factor is to be treated by a Board Certified Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon, who has a great deal of technical expertise and experience. Many times injections are delegated to a Nurse, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. You should always insist that the injector be a doctor - of dermatology or plastic surgery; and take the time to review the doctor's certifications, experience and before & after photos, and be assured that the doctor and you are clear on your goals and expected outcomes. Best of Luck to You!

Answer: Dermatologist vs plastic surgeons Thank you for your question. Your results are not related to whether the Dr is a dermatologist or plastic surgeon, but related to the skill and experience of the injector. It's important to find a Dr who will listen to your needs and strive to accomplish your desired goals. Contact a board certified facial plastic surgeon or dermatologist in your area for a comprehensive consultation
