Hi! I am 5’8, 158lbs. I have a consult schedule for 12/22. From all my research I feel like I’d be a better candidate for a mini tuck. I had 1 pregnancy 11 years ago. I had bilateral inguinal surgery repaid in 2017. At that time I asked the surgueon to evaluate for diastasis recti and he said there was no muscle separation. I would like to know if Im being realistic with wanting a mini tuck.

It appears that you  have loose skin above and below your belly button. This would make a full tummy tuck more suitable.

You have laxity and expansion injury of both your upper and lower abdominal skin. Rectus diastasis is not as relevant as a history of a full term pregnancy; all women would benefit from muscle wall tightening. A full abdominoplasty will give you the best result with the flattest tummy and most natural belly button.

You don’t have a lot of loose skin, so your goals vs trade offs must be considered.

Vaser ultrasound liposuction will remove stubborn fat and improve/tighten skin without a tummy tuck scar- however, stretch marks and some skin laxity around the belly button will likely persist.

Some patients are satisfied with these results. For those who desire the flattest, tightest belly - only a full tummy tuck will give best results. If muscle is good, you can do a skin only tummy tuck with shorter recovery. Trade off may be higher scar and/or small T extension.

A mini, in my experience, is suboptimal and does not address above/around the belly button satisfactorily.

An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon is recommended to further discuss your best options and expectations.
