Some doctors say that the only way to tighten forehead skin is by a forehead lift. What about RF Microneedling treatments?

I keep reading that RF microneedling is used to tighten skin. Will it work on the forehead area? Thanks.

Microneedling is a non-surgical treatment that works by creating tiny injuries in the skin. These channels stimulate the body to produce more collagen, which provides additional support to the dermal structure. As collagen levels increase, the skin becomes thicker, smoother and firmer. In my office, I combine traditional microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to further enhance the rejuvenation effect. 
While microneedling is safe and effective, the results are limited. If you are looking for more dramatic results that will last for many years, a brow lift or forehead lift is a better choice. I encourage you to schedule an in-person assessment with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can help you choose the best procedure for you.

Microneeding does create some skin tighteinging by stimulating collagen and elastin in the deeper layers of your skin.  That being said,  this treatment varies greatly depending not only upon the device that is used but also upon the operator that is using the machine.  I would strongly recommend an in office consultation with a reputable and experienced provider preferably a board certified plastic surgeon.  kh

A forehead lift typically does not tighten the forehead skin. A forehead lift is done to improve the position of the eyebrows and may secondarily soften some of the wrinkles. If you want to improve the texture of the skin then you can consider resurfacing procedures such as lasers, radio frequency skin tightening or chemical peels. A consultation with a facial plastic surgeon will help to see what specific concerns that you may have. Good luck in your area.

RF microneedling can be used to tighten the forehead.  It would depend on the amount of laxity that is present.  It is also possible to get some tightening with laser resurfacing (Lumenis CO2 accuplus or an erbium laser).  You would need to consult with an experienced provider who can best advise you.

In the context of the area, namely forehead, RF has limited capacity to lift. Microneedling RF is an extension of microneedling with ‘energy’. Generation one devices such as Dermapen/ Skin Pen etc. use needles without heat to remodel collagen. Generation Two devices are microneedles that are not insulated, hence heat is delivered along the length of needles. Examples include Secret RF and Intensif. Generation Three devices use insulated needles to deliver heat at the point of the needle. Examples include Infini RF, as well as Genius. 
Newer generation devices will generally give better outcomes, however with insulation, the safety of microneedling RF devices is usually better than generation two machines. With insulation the incidence of skin colour darkening and ‘grids’ secondary to ‘stamping’ is less, however it is largely technique dependent. 
Microneedling RF should be viewed as a tool to be incorporated in the suitable clinical context. As with most other ‘fractional technology’ 3-5 sessions spaced 3-6 weeks apart will give the best results. Be guided by your specialist.  All the best,
