Botox disappointment. Should I give Dysport a try or will the results most likely be the same?

The molecules of Dysport and Botox are not exactly the same even though they work by the same mechanism. The way I describe it to people is that its basically like Coke and Pepsi, some people's bodies will prefer one over the other. Although it is possible that Dysport will have the same minimal effect as Botox, I would try Dysport at least once to see if it works better (my experience is that up to 10-20% of people will notice a difference). If Dysport does not work, there are other products that you can also try. When trying new products, I often recommend doing only one area to see if it works or if you like the results so that the investment is not too great before you know if it works.

The placement of Botox injections and the dose used can affect the results. Without knowing the details of your treatments, I can't say if the location of your injections or the dose might be a cause for having not results. In very rare cases, someone may develop a resistance to Botox and have no effect from the treatment. In my experience, when this occurs, there is no effect from Dysport as well. I would say that it is worth trying Dysport once to see if it works for you though.

Each neuromodulator is designed a little differently. Some find that if one doesn't work, another will. If you liked your prior Botox effects it would make sense to try Dysport or another neuromodulator to see if you have better luck.
