Can Radiesse be injected superficially?

 Radiesse is a filler that is meant to be injected deep and augment bony prominences as the cheeks or the jawline. I would highly recommend that you do not injected superficially.

volume to the cheeks. They are injected both superficially but the doctor may
go deeper depending on your facial structure. They are both great fillers that
offer slightly different advantages. Radiesse is an injectable gel that is made
of calcium hydroxyapatite, which is a normal constituent of bone. It is used to
plump the skin in areas that are sunken, wrinkled, or have developed lines (on
your face or hands). Radiesse results last one to two years. Voluma is a
hyaluronic acid filler specifically made to restore age-related volume loss to
the mid-face (cheeks, cheekbones, and around the chin). Voluma lasts up to 18

Radiesse is generally injected deeper than the hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane. It is very useful for filling deeper nasolabial lines. If you are asking about using it to make the upper cheeks look fuller, similar to what Voluma is being used for, then it needs to be injected deeply. I do not fell it will get you the results you want if injected superficially in the cheeks and the chance of unwanted irregularities is high.I do not recommend or use Radiesse to fill lips and lower eyelids due to potential issues with nodules. I am aware that some injectors do use Radiesse for those purposes, and I'm sure some patients do fine, but it is not worth the risk. Radiesse can be injected deeply over bone or it can be injected in the subcutaneous layer below the dermis.  It is not meant for very superficial injection.  Some injectors will blend Radiesse with lidocaine or saline for smoother results.  Make sure to see an expert physician injector.Regards,Dr. Ort

Although I typically like to place Radiesse deeply, closer to the level of the bones, it can be injected more superficially in the junction of the dermis and subcutaneous fat. When injected too superficially it can cause visible bumps in the skin which are difficult to treat. I frequently use Radiesse both deeply and more superficially to create both a good foundation and to expand the skin somewhat. I don't like to overfill the superficial area since this can created an over rounded, unnatural result in many patients. Best of Luck   Dr Harrell

the simple answer is no. Radiesse must not be injected like hyaluronic acid as it stimulates your own collagen. if you desire long lasting and immediate results have Radiesse injected low and hyaluronic acid filler such as Restylane layered over it

There are 2 fillers that work well in the cheeks, Radiesse and Juvederm Voluma. These are injected both deep and somewhat superficially (but not just sub-dermal) depending on the area. It is safe for relative superficial injection. Make sure you see an expert injector with significant experience in this area. Whether it is injected superficial or deep is determined by the underlying bony support. With support, a small amount in the right area can give significant lift.
