The best thing to do to help remove these crusts is to use nasal saline 5 or 6 times a day to help break them up. Yes, removeing them can cause pain and discomfort.

 This is probably one of the better times to do it. You are only going to get busier as you progress through your training. You should look pretty normal after one week or so. As long as it does not mess with your interview schedule you should be fine.
