Rhinoplasty and pregnancy - recommended time to wait after procedure?

Question

If you get rhinoplasty, how long is it recommended to wait to get pregnant after? What happens if you get pregnant 2-4 months after rhinoplasty- will this affect the final results of the nose?

I don’t see any contraindication with rhinoplasty and getting pregnant afterward. It does not change the final outcome of the procedure.

As far as I can understand from your question. It can take 1 to 1.5 years for the nose to fully settle after rhinoplasty. I recommend waiting 1 year. Getting pregnant after you are sure your body has fully recovered will ensure a healthier pregnancy.

The typical question is how long to wait after pregnancy to have a rhinoplasty, and this is typically one year, since people's noses and faces can sometimes get a bit swollen and puffy for up to a year after delivery. We have had several patients over the years become pregnant during their 1 year healing. Pregnancy itself won't undo the structural changes from rhinoplasty, but the hormonal shifts can temporarily affect the nose. Increased blood volume and fluid retention can sometimes cause (or worsen) swelling or congestion, which can make the nose look fuller for a time. However, these effects usually resolve after pregnancy.

I generally recommend giving yourself at least 6 months after rhinoplasty before trying to conceive. This gives the tissues time to heal and stabilize, since the nose continues refining for many months. If a pregnancy happens before then, it may prolong swelling, but it shouldn't compromise your long-term results.

Hello! Thank you for your question. This is a very common concern for many of our patients and a very important question. It is generally safe to become pregnant at any time after rhinoplasty, since the bones and cartilage usually heal within a few months. That said, most surgeon would recommend waiting 6–12 months if possible. Pregnancy brings hormonal changes that can temporarily affect skin elasticity and tissue swelling, including in the nose and surrounding facial areas. This swelling can make your rhinoplasty results look slightly different during pregnancy, though in most cases the nose returns to its post-surgery shape afterward. Waiting allows your tissues to fully stabilize and helps ensure that your final results are preserved as intended.

I don’t think there’s any correlation between rhinoplasty surgery and pregnancy.
We generally avoid elective cosmetic surgery during pregnancy.
After pregnancy, it’s probably best to focus on your new child.
Other than that you should be able to do the procedure whenever you want to.
